Hi!
I'm a 16 year old, homeschooled, Chesterton fan who also likes The Shadow of the Bear. I have two quotes that I especially like, so I thought I’d suggest them, although I’m not sure if they’d be appropriate for theme quotes.

“He has come to the most dreadful conclusion a literary man can come to, the conclusion that the ordinary view is the right one. It is only the last and wildest kind of courage that can stand on a tower before ten thousand people and tell them that twice two is four.”

“Once I planned to write a book entirely about the things in my pocket. But I found it would be too long; and the age of the great epics is past.”

I’m looking forward to this blog. It sounds like lots of fun!

Excellent quotes! The "last and wildest" is very good, and kind of a tribute to what we are doing as Chestertonians; the second is just hilarious, though I must point out that GKC did write an essay on what he found in his pockets - which is in Tremendous Trifles in case you were wondering - which is where that second quote comes from, in the essay called "A Piece of Chalk". And the first quote is from Heretics CW1:75.

Hello. How new is this blog? I think it's great and you gals certainly seem to have your acts together.

My suggestion for a quote: "It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged."

:-)

Chestertonian: We started this blog close to a month ago I think.
And thanks everyone for the great quotes, I really like them.
Now I have out where to put the other theme quote. As you can see we put one under the name, but I don't want that to be the only one. Well I'll find some place for it on the sidebar.

"Now I have out..." should have been "Now I have to find out..." Oops

Here's some:
"Literature is a luxury; fiction is a necessity"

"Fairy tales do not tell children dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed"

"An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only and adventure wrongly considered."

"O God of earth and altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die;
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
But take away our pride."

"To be clever enough to get all the money, one must be stupid enough to want it."
